Yea, can it be, that I can always turn
Afresh to Thee,
And in Thy secret dwelling place may learn
Thy thoughts toward me;
Like one of old, who leaned on Jesus' breast,
I too may find, in Him my perfect rest.

Thy love to me, not mine, the tie that bound
My heart to Thee,
Thy love so tender, true and strong, that found
A place for me
In those great counsels of eternity,
That I might with, and ever like Thee be.

O wondrous love, that saw me lost indeed,
A slave to sin,
That came from heaven, to meet me in my need,
My love to win;
That paid redemption's awful price for me,
And gavest Thine all, for me on Calvary.

Amazing grace, and love beyond compare,
My theme shall be.
Unmerited, so marvellous and rare
Thy thoughts toward me;
And through eternity my song shall be,
The triune God's amazing love to me.
